The “Scottish Clan” Reunions: Cumming-Duncan Annual Picnics 1945

1945
The 20th annual reunion of the Scottish Clan was held Aug. 24, 1945 at Aroostook Valley Park with 66 present.
A picnic dinner was served on the tables out of doors as the dining room had been closed for the summer.  We were fortunate in having such a lovely day for our picnic.  A business meeting was held with our Vice Chief John Dow of Mapleton presiding as our Chief Wilmot Duncan was unable to be present, being in the service and the following officers were elected:
William H. Cumming, Houlton, Chief.
Wilmot Duncan, Washburn, V. Chief.
Barbara C. Lyon, Presque Isle, Sec’y & Treas.
Prayer by Alex Cumming, Houlton. A record of the last meeting was read.
We are all very grateful to W. H. Cumming for filling out the names on the Honor Roll which he purchased for us.  An by the way there was eight names added since our last picnic.  They are:
Helen Cumming, Houlton, Me.
Charles Blanchard, Maynard, Mass.
James E. Cumming, Lexinton, Mass.
Wilmot Duncan, Washburn, Me.
William C. Langley, Easton, Me.
Gerald Vaughn, Washburn, Me.
William Conroy, Washburn, Me.

Talk by Mrs. Elizabeth Prescott of Greenfield, Mass. And she read a clipping about the Duncan Clan and also explained why she was unable to get the Service Flag at this time but will have it later if possible.
Talk by D. L. Duncan
Talk  by Lettie Haynes who is now living in Hendersonville, N. C.
We all stood in a moment of silence in memory of those who have passed on.
It was decided not to take a collection this year as we did not have to pay for the park and had funds enough to pay for what we needed.  A gift of money was presented to your Sec’y and Treas. By John Dow from the Clan.  It was very much appreciated and I feel that it was really more than I deserved.
There were races for all ages with prizes for the winners.
Barbara C. Lyon Secy.
We have $10.80 in the Treas.
